Some basics...

For starters: You need two things. A domain name and hosting

A domain name is your unique web address for your website. For example fullcolorpanda.com is the domain name of this website. If you are planning to create your presence on the internet, getting a domain name should be the starting point. Owning a domain name gives you the same feeling that you get once you have in your hands the title deed for your newly purchased house.
Another importance of domain name is that you can create your own personal e-mail address like This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. which looks professional. You also have the flexibility to create multiple e-mails for your various departments like

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.,

Hosting

Choosing a host is an essential pre-requisite for making your website come “live” on the internet. You need a web host to launch your website and make it available to the world wide web.

Chosing a host is not a complex process though it can be quite confusing at times. That's because many web hosts are offering so many different packages. Like always, the best host isn't neccesarily the cheapest. It’s not always the cost of hosting that makes a hoster a good or an average one. There are numerous hosters flooding the industry. Obviously they all are there for business and sometimes your interest might not be their upmost priority.
Generally it's a good idea to chose a host in the country where you offer your services to.
